Emergency Preparedness Requirements?

Postby fritz1255 » Wed Jan 17, 2007 2:49 pm

The pdf file from the merit badge worksheets section of this site does not match the Word document, at least for the Emergency Preparedness merit badge. Which one is correct? If this topic has been covered before, sorry about that. Link to the worksheets: http://www.meritbadge.com/worksheets/

A check of the current BSA requirements book would clear up the confusion.

Try the worksheets on the US Scouting Service Project, instead, at http://usscouts.org/mb/mb006.html

The word document is apparently correct, the pdf file has what are most likely the old requirements. I have EMailed the site administrator.

The individuals who put together these worksheet do an outstanding job. Some times they have to play catch up when the requirements change. They are not official BSA forms. Remember though that these are only tools and are not required to be used by scouts who wish to earn a particular MB.

when you stop to think about how things used to be. look back when you were a kid in scouts how hard was it to keep papers together for a merit badge. I remember it was a BEAR   now look at how we as scouters and scouting has evolved over the years. the worksheets for the prime example I think they are a awesome resource for some merit badges. they are compact in order and makes it just plain easy to keep things together. yes if we require the kids to use them we are adding to the requirements. but if we explain to the boys and parents how much easier it is to use them then we as MBCs can teach some badges much easier. just my personal opinion about this.

Those are actually some of the least accurate requirements on the Internet.

It has been a year since Waterskiing Merit Badge was replaced by Water Sports and yet still today they have the old Waterskiing requirements instead of the new Watersports:

http://www.scouting.org/BoyScouts/Advan ... adges.aspx

Many other merit badge requirements including First Aid were updated during 2007. None were updated on the BSA site until February of 2008.

As an aside, please do not use the workbooks on merit badge.com. Many of those have wording other than the current BSA wording.
