Permission to update wiki (Advancement Policies)

Postby miksmi » Sat Jan 28, 2012 12:41 pm

How do I obtain permission to update the Advancement Policies page with the new document name (Guide to Advancement 2011) and link?

Pages to update:

http://meritbadge.org/wiki/index.php/Ad ... t_Policies
http://meritbadge.org/wiki/index.php/Eagle_Project

I'm attending a Life to Eagle Project with my son so this is fresh in my mind.

Thanks.

Well, frankly... we've learned that we simply had to 'edit protect' certain pages (esp. requirements) in order to prevent vandalism. Currently, in order to edit 'protected' pages, you (of course) need to have Sysop privileges. (Open this link in a new tab and read it, first.)

After that, if you're still interested, read the articles linked under the following pages:

And then drop me an e-mail.

P.S. We are in dire need of a few good "active" Sysops. And, the most important thing is that you don't have to do it all... you can specialize in working only in one or two areas of your interest/expertise.

I used the email form on mertibadge.org to send you a message. I since found your nesa.org address from your meritbadge.net forum profile so you should have the same message in both places.

I've sent an email requesting permission to edit advancement requirements, and suggested a way to contribute w/o having edit rights.

Make the changes on the Talk page for the intended page, then make sure a sysop is notified of the changes so that they can review them and make them if they are demed appropriate.

I've done as I suggested, make the edits to the "talk" page, for all the sea scout ranks. I hope that they will be used.
