Unit Leader Award of Merit

Postby biglou » Fri May 07, 2010 4:30 pm

Just saw this while I was surfing. I guess the SM and Venturing Advisor Awards of Merit are gone. :( This award is for Team Coaches, Cubmasters, Scoutmasters and Advisors.

Here are the links I found:

The SM and Venturing Award of Merit are actually sponsored by the National Eagle Scout Association (NESA).

I am confused too...going to keep checking.

The new award is definitely a replacement for the old ones.

Thanks for clearing that up. Yes...everything I found was pointing to a replacement.

I was surprised and honored with receiving the Unit Leader Award of Merit last Monday night (May 3, 2010).
(According to our DE and his boss, I'm the first Scouter in Cleveland to get this award....very humbling)
I did not hold the SM Award of Merit.

The knot background is dark blue with metalic gold thread for the knot/border.

The award winner also is allowed to wear a special SM patch with a metalic gold border and an embroidered star above the BSA symbol.

That is great news. It is great when your fellow scouts feel compelled to say thanks.
